Ripple Effect Images empowers women to tell their stories through impactful images and films

Ripple Effect Images, founded in 2011 by award‑winning photographer Annie Griffiths and based in Reston, VA, is a nonprofit that empowers women to tell their own stories through photography, film, and animation. Its core challenge is reframing mainstream narratives that cast women as victims, while raising awareness and funding for programs that promote women’s health, education, economic empowerment and climate resilience—often reaching hard‑to‑reach communities and working with a small, mission‑driven team.

Ripple addresses this by producing in‑depth visual storytelling in partnership with nonprofits, using Adobe Creative Cloud tools and an Adobe grant to launch initiatives like Photography for Good and expand animation work during the pandemic. The results: 50+ films and 45,000 images made available to partners, more than $10 million raised for women and children, measurable program impacts (e.g., supporting Rwanda’s Gashora Girls Academy, BRAC’s protection programs, and Barefoot College solar projects) and wider reach through ministry-backed animated health resources.
