Case Study: Oxygen cuts promo graphics time by 75% and improves quality control with Adobe Premiere Pro (Essential Graphics)

A Adobe Case Study

Preview of the Oxygen Case Study

Oxygen television network successfully rebrands channel and uses the Essential Graphics panel in Adobe Premiere Pro to accelerate workflows tied to on-air promo graphics

Oxygen, the NBCUniversal cable network that rebranded as a true-crime channel in 2017, needed to produce a high volume of on-air promos and consistent branded graphics across programs. The promo team faced a time-consuming workflow—creating many versions of short spots required leaving the editors’ non-linear editing environment and often relied on outside support for heavy versioning and revisions.

By adopting Adobe Premiere Pro’s Essential Graphics panel and Motion Graphics templates created in After Effects, Oxygen enabled editors to update titles, tags, and other elements directly in the NLE. This cut tagging time for 26 promo versions from two hours to about 30 minutes, kept promo production in-house, improved version control and quality, freed designers to focus on higher-end work, and helped support the network’s rapid audience growth (15% year-over-year primetime growth in 2018).
