Nippon Television Network prepares for 4K

Nippon Television Network Corporation, a leading Japanese broadcaster, needed to ramp up original 4K production while keeping costs and turnaround time down. High equipment costs, long transcoding times, and the need for a secure, offline environment made it challenging to produce fast, high-quality 4K and live sports broadcasts in native resolution.

The technical operations department deployed Adobe Creative Cloud for enterprise across all designer workstations and moved editing to Adobe Premiere Pro CC with After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator, plus support for Grass Valley codecs and XAVC output. Combined with 4K-capable hardware (BlueFish Epoch cards), this delivered native 4K on a single screen, eliminated shared workspaces, expanded codec and workflow flexibility, and created cost-efficient, professional-grade 4K production—enabling projects like a Ryoanji Temple exhibit and a live 4K baseball broadcast.
