MLB Network retools editing and post-production environment

MLB Network, a 24x7 cable channel launched in 2009 that produces comprehensive baseball coverage, faced rapidly growing production demand (about 20% year-over-year), massive archives (500,000+ hours, 25 PB), and the need to modernize aging editing systems while maintaining broadcast-quality standards. Their challenges included adopting new editing and post-production technologies, handling increasing volumes, integrating the NLE with their DIAMOND asset-management system, and keeping workflows consistent across departments.

They deployed Adobe Creative Cloud for enterprise—centered on Premiere Pro and After Effects, plus Audition, SpeedGrade, Prelude, and Media Encoder—on high-performance Cisco UCS workstations with GPU acceleration and 250 concurrent Premiere Pro licenses. A custom Premiere panel integrated Premiere with DIAMOND so editors can locate, import, and relink assets without leaving the NLE, resulting in faster, more efficient workflows, preserved broadcast quality, and a scalable solution that meets their complex editing and post-production needs.
