Liquid Mode delivers better digital reading experiences for all students

Liquid Mode, a nonprofit focused on better digital reading experiences for students, faced the challenge of making long, complex PDF documents easier to read on mobile devices for learners with very different reading levels and needs. Using **Adobe Acrobat Reader mobile app** and Adobe’s **Liquid Mode**, the organization wanted to improve accessibility, comprehension, and learning for adult education, ESL, and university students.

**Adobe** implemented Liquid Mode to reformat PDFs for small screens and let readers adjust font size and spacing, use intelligent outlines, and search more easily. In pilot programs, students reported less scrolling and zooming, easier access to assigned sections, reduced eye strain, and greater willingness to read on their phones; one study also found statistically significant results showing that lower cognitive load was linked to higher feelings of productivity.
