Lawrence County High School, drumbeat for the future

Lawrence County High School, a Title I school in Moulton, Alabama, faced shrinking tax revenues and limited technology after the area’s largest employer closed, leaving teachers and students sharing scarce computers and few opportunities to learn digital skills. The school needed a way to inspire students, teach marketable media skills, and broaden career prospects despite tight budgets.

Adobe’s donation of creative and eLearning tools through the White House ConnectED initiative—including Premiere Elements, Photoshop Elements, Captivate, Presenter, and EchoSign—gave every student access to industry-standard software and professional development for teachers. Students used the tools to produce contest-winning videos (earning $10,000 in percussion equipment), build confidence and ownership of projects, expand into photo editing and animation, and develop career-enriching digital skills that opened new possibilities for learning and future work.
