How Adobe is empowering students to read and learn more

The University of Arizona was looking for ways to help students read and learn more effectively as coursework increasingly moved to digital documents on phones and tablets. Adobe partnered with Dr. Shelley Rodrigo and the university to explore how Adobe Acrobat Reader and its new Liquid Mode could improve readability and accessibility for students with different reading preferences.

Adobe implemented Liquid Mode in Acrobat Reader mobile apps, using Adobe Sensei AI to reflow PDF content for easier reading on any screen size. The solution enabled personalized font and spacing settings, with research from the Virtual Readability Lab showing students could read up to 51% faster in their preferred font and achieve their highest comprehension scores in that format; Adobe’s work is also being piloted at the University of Arizona to further refine the approach.
