Hotels.com, a leading online booking site, wanted to make its brand more playful and boost traveler engagement by creating unique, interactive made-for-web content featuring its Captain Obvious character. The challenge was to deliver a memorable, “unskippable” ad experience that encouraged interaction and increased interactivity across its online channels.
Working with CP+B London and Adobe Consulting, Hotels.com used Adobe Advertising Cloud to build a seamless custom experience with two synchronized videos that users could toggle by clicking a skip button—keeping the technology invisible so viewers focused on the humor. The campaign drove strong engagement (nearly 20% of viewers toggled between experiences), lifted brand awareness and consideration, increased satisfaction with interactivity, generated positive social buzz, and earned industry recognition.
