Case Study: European Southern Observatory (ESO) streamlines web publishing of imagery and data with Adobe Experience Manager (Adobe)

A Adobe Case Study

Preview of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) Case Study

European Southern Observatory Delivering images to the world

The European Southern Observatory (ESO) is Europe’s leading intergovernmental astronomy organization, operating world‑class ground‑based telescopes and publishing large volumes of scientific imagery and technical data. As content volume and complexity grew, ESO needed a high‑performance, Java‑based web content management platform that supported open standards, maintained a consistent look and feel across sites, and empowered subject‑matter experts to publish without overburdening IT.

With partner Logica, ESO implemented Adobe Experience Manager in under three months to centralize web content and digital asset management, deploy templates and web components, and provide testing, workflow, metadata and administration tools. The platform enabled about 40 line‑of‑business authors (PR, astronomers, education staff) to publish multi‑language news and technical content independently, delivering consistent branding, higher‑quality content, reduced IT complexity and an improved end‑user experience.
