A Adobe Case Study

Developing better citizens through education

Alief Independent School District’s instructional technology team teamed with Adobe Education to create a public‑service and voting‑resource website for the 2012 elections that would teach democratic citizenship and deliver dynamic, engaging social‑studies lessons. Their brief was to build an accessible, graphically rich site that worked on Apple iOS, met ADA guidelines, and could be used by teachers and students.

Using Adobe Creative Cloud tools—Flash Professional for interactivity, Premiere Pro/Audition/Media Encoder for video/audio, Photoshop/Illustrator/Fireworks for graphics, InDesign for the interactive Constitution (exported as a flipbook and as an interactive PDF for iOS), Dreamweaver to assemble the site, and Bridge to manage assets—the team produced an interactive, multimedia website and PSA. The resource quickly spread beyond Alief ISD, being adopted nationwide by teachers, students, parents, and civic organizations as an engaging, accessible voting education tool.
