University of the People, the world’s first non-profit, tuition-free, accredited online university, faced the challenge of scaling enrollment globally while keeping acquisition costs extremely low. To support this growth, it used Adobe Experience Cloud and Adobe Marketo Engage to build a personalized, nearly fully digital enrollment journey for students from more than 200 countries and territories.
Adobe implemented marketing automation, segmentation, and SMS/push-enabled workflows to guide applicants from application to classroom with almost no human interaction. The results have been dramatic: enrollment has doubled each year, acquisition costs are under $60 per student, and the university is on track to serve more than 150,000 students, with a long-term goal of reaching 1 million students.
