Hotels.com wanted to make booking feel fun again and increase traveler engagement by running made-for-web, character-driven, skippable ads featuring Captain Obvious. To meet those goals, Hotels.com partnered with Adobe and used Adobe Advertising Cloud (with Adobe consulting and creative agency CP+B London) to design an interactive, toggle-able ad experience.
Adobe implemented a custom solution using two parallel, synced videos and Adobe Advertising Cloud’s measurement and survey tools so viewers could switch between skipped and unskipped experiences. The campaign drove strong results—nearly 20% of exposed travelers toggled between experiences—while surveys showed lifts in brand awareness, consideration and satisfaction, plus positive social feedback and industry recognition.
