Manhattan Press, a Hong Kong educational publisher, faced a shrinking print market and the need to provide more interactive, multi‑platform learning materials that accommodate different student learning speeds while streamlining a time‑consuming print‑to‑digital workflow. To address these challenges they partnered with Adobe, using the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (beta) alongside Adobe InDesign to move from desktop publishing to rich e‑textbooks.
Using the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, Manhattan Press built interactive tablet and PC editions (including the Our Scientist – Communication iPad app) that let students watch videos, annotate, answer questions and access extra resources. Adobe Digital Publishing Suite streamlined parallel content development, cut time to program electronic versions by about 30%, generated strong teacher feedback and orders at launch, supported HKSAR eLearning initiatives, and opened new revenue and partnership opportunities for Manhattan Press.
