A Adobe InDesign Case Study
Green Mountain Technology & Career Center faced the challenge of preparing students from rural northern Vermont for further education and in-demand creative careers while bridging opportunity gaps for unaffluent communities. To teach real-world skills with industry-standard tools, the school adopted Adobe Creative Cloud for education — including apps such as Adobe InDesign CC — provided through Adobe InDesign (VIP licensing) so students could access the same software in school and at home.
Using Adobe Creative Cloud deployed via a $25-per-student Value Incentive Plan, GMTCC equipped classrooms with iMacs and personal licenses, integrating apps like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Adobe InDesign to teach photography, design, animation and film. The Adobe InDesign-powered program produced measurable results: students earned up to 12 college credits in the Fast Forward Dual Enrollment program, won top placements at SkillsUSA (including a 2016 sweep in Advertising Design), had a student documentary air on Vermont PBS (2017), and enabled students to create a commercial and professional portfolios for real freelance work.
