SimulTV, a Selma, Virginia startup, needed to break down barriers between television and social media by uniting live video, chat, social networking and web search on a single device. To build a scalable, sustainable social-TV platform and move the “second screen” onto one screen, SimulTV chose Adobe ColdFusion (alongside Adobe Flash Professional and Creative Cloud tools) as its core development platform for the website and service tier.

Adobe ColdFusion powers SimulTV’s service tier and integrates with its HTML5, LiveCycle Data Services, iOS and Flash components to deliver live cable, interactive video, text and voice chat, social feeds and search across devices. The result is a marketable social-television platform supporting 44 SimulTV channels and over 55,000 VOD titles; ColdFusion’s rapid development and real-time communication features enabled fast iteration, real-time group video chat, and the ability to scale and operate efficiently with a small team of three full-time developers.
