South Australia Department for Education reshapes the future with forms

The South Australian Department for Education, which oversees about 900 schools and preschools, set out to make public education world-class but found its progress hampered by slow, paper-based administrative processes and aging in‑house systems. Staff spent hours on manual data entry and dealt with misplaced or error-prone forms, creating delays that distracted from teaching and leadership priorities.

The department implemented Adobe Experience Manager Forms, integrating digital, prepopulated and validated forms with existing systems (including Outlook and HR/payroll). This eliminated paper for high‑volume processes like the 70,000 School Card applications and 14,000 secondary‑school transition forms, saving an estimated year of manual data entry, reducing errors and costs, improving privacy and approvals, and enabling faster, more convenient experiences for families and staff — with further rollouts and language support planned.
