How CDOT transformed infrastructure planning with Adobe Acrobat Sign and ProjectWise

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) needed a better way to manage massive infrastructure project plans across Colorado’s challenging terrain, where plan sets could reach thousands of pages and require secure approvals and seals. Using Adobe Acrobat Sign with ProjectWise, CDOT moved away from paper-heavy workflows and enabled a faster, digital process for handling signatures and document approvals.

Adobe Acrobat Sign helped CDOT create an integrated, secure workflow that supported large files, automated reminders, and searchable ISO-compliant PDFs. The results were significant: sealing plans became 90% faster, the agency closed a print shop that cost more than $1 million a year to run, and it saved about $100,000 annually in freight, material, and labor costs. CDOT also reduced setup time for eSealing from up to three weeks to just 15–30 minutes after a rules change supported by the Adobe Acrobat Sign-enabled process.
