CDOT Saves Time and Money Paving the Way to Digital with Adobe Acrobat Sign

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) manages a massive volume of roadway projects, including thousands of-page plan sets that require multiple engineer seals and signatures. As the agency grew, its paper-heavy processes, long-term document retention needs, and storage challenges made it difficult and costly to keep up. CDOT turned to Adobe Acrobat Sign, along with its ProjectWise integration, to support its move from paper to digital workflows.

Adobe Acrobat Sign enabled CDOT to route, sign, and return plan sets electronically from within ProjectWise, with secure encryption, audit trails, and support for very large files. The result is an expected 85% to 90% reduction in signature turnaround time and more than $100,000 in savings across labor, printing, shipping, scanning, and storage. CDOT also plans to extend Adobe Acrobat Sign to change orders, aiming to cut processing time from 30 to 35 days to just three.
