Ocean County College Boosts Student Enrollment and Engagement With AI Chatbot

Ocean County College, a community college in Toms River, NJ, was facing a sixth straight year of declining enrollment and wanted to improve the student experience by creating a one-stop shop for answers and support. The school needed a way to help students navigate admissions, financial aid, and other departments more easily, while also reducing the burden on a small staff team.

To meet that need, Ocean County College implemented AdmitHub’s AI-powered chatbot, “Reggie,” to provide 24/7 student support through text and handle routine questions across the enrollment process. With AdmitHub, OCC answered more than 14,000 student questions in the first year, saved over 200 staff hours, reduced escalations to human staff to about 2% of inquiries, and saw student engagement rise from email response rates of around 15% to 26%, contributing to enrollment gains of 7.4% in summer and 1.9% in fall.
