East Carolina University, a regional public university serving more than 23,000 undergraduates, partnered with AdmitHub as part of GEAR UP NC’s initiative to support students interested in North Carolina public universities. The admissions team was spending too much time answering repetitive, transactional questions and needed a way to reduce FAQ-related calls so staff could focus on more personal, high-touch student interactions.

AdmitHub implemented its AI-powered chatbot, “Pee Dee,” along with text messaging and nudge campaigns to deliver conversational, student-centered support. After two months, calls to the admissions office dropped from 8,492 to 7,357 versus the same period the year before, a 13.4% decrease that saved an estimated 170+ staff hours. This allowed ECU’s admissions staff to spend more time on complex student needs, high school visits, and in-person outreach.
