Allegheny College Provides Personalized Student Experience With AI

Allegheny College, a small liberal arts college in Meadville, PA, wanted to preserve its hallmark personalized admissions experience as inquiries and applications grew. With a static staff size and limited time to handle outreach, the college needed a way to engage prospective students at scale without losing the personal touch. To address this challenge, Allegheny partnered with AdmitHub and used an AI-powered chatbot to support student communications.

AdmitHub implemented “Chompers,” a custom chatbot based on the college mascot, to send nudges, answer questions 24/7, gather data, and support students through text messaging. The results were immediate: 72 housing form submissions came in within 72 hours, the Class of 2021 Facebook page gained 30 signups in the first hour, program registrations more than doubled versus the previous two events combined, and Chompers handled 99.8% of messages, with 28% coming outside office hours.
