Case Study: Oil Company achieves rapid part-tracking and pipeline safety with Adlib Software

A Adlib Software Case Study

Oil Company Ensures Safety of Pipeline with Extracted Content

Oil Company, working on a multi‑billion dollar pipeline, needed to rapidly identify where specific parts were installed across 200,000 large, unsearchable engineering drawings (with text oriented both vertically and horizontally) to support preventative maintenance and emergency response and mitigate safety and litigation risks. They engaged Adlib Software and its Content Elevation Process™ and extraction/OCR software to extract part numbers (tags) and populate an index so the information could be searched and acted on.

Adlib Software deployed its extraction tool—capable of recognizing over 45 tagging conventions—to find part numbers, their locations and orientations within drawings and index them, enabling engineers to search for related drawings and track affected components. As a result, critical data from hundreds of thousands of files (covering millions of components) is now accessible for faster identification of affected parts, improved maintenance and safety validation, and reduced operational risk.
