Gulistan Carpet, one of America’s leading carpet producers, needed a better way to manage highly customized, high-volume carpet production across three North Carolina plants. With thousands of color and style combinations, up to 2,350 SKUs, and order fulfillment that could take three weeks or more, the company struggled with inventory levels, production bottlenecks, and long lead times.
To address this, Gulistan Carpet implemented Adexa, Inc.’s eGPS advanced planning and scheduling (APS) solution with help from Arthur Andersen, integrating it with its ERP system. Adexa’s system improved forecasting, scheduling, and supply chain coordination, cutting average lead times from 14 days to about 8 days, raising order-filling efficiency from 62-63% to just over 80%, reducing dyeing to 2-3 days and finishing to about two days, and lowering inventories while improving profitability.
