Phillips Lytle LLP, a North American law firm with nine offices and more than 350 employees, was struggling to reimburse employee expenses in a timely way. After its paper-check process ended, the firm moved to a manual payroll-vendor workflow that required expenses to be keyed in by hand and paid only once a month, leaving employees waiting weeks for reimbursement and the firm buried in paper receipts. Aderant’s Expert Expenses was introduced to help modernize and simplify the expense process.

With Aderant’s Expert Expenses, Phillips Lytle implemented a phased rollout across the firm, starting with a small test group and expanding after pilot feedback and customizations were completed. The solution automated expense entry and approval, populated billable expenses directly into prebills, reduced manual work, eliminated the need for a third party to make ACH payments, and enabled bimonthly reimbursements. As a result, Phillips Lytle improved its WIP-to-cash cycle, reduced out-of-cycle payment requests, and increased timely expense submissions.
