The International Development Research Centre (IDRC), a Canadian Crown corporation, wanted to build a modern analytics platform to deliver data as a service and support both ad hoc and structured analytics. Their challenge was to efficiently measure new KPIs, automate data transformations, and free analysts from manual data preparation while integrating with legacy tools and enterprise data governance requirements. Adastra was engaged to implement a solution using Azure Synapse.

Adastra implemented an Azure-based solution using Azure Synapse Analytics and Power BI. They developed a pilot that created visualizations for five key KPIs, sourcing data from Dynamics 365 and automating the entire data ingestion and analytics process. The project, including knowledge transfer, was completed in just five weeks. As a result, IDRC gained a scalable platform with a single version of truth, end-to-end automation, and significantly lower total cost of ownership, positioning them to meet all future analytics requirements.
