CETIN catalogs 8,000 tables with Adastra using Microsoft Purview

CETIN, a telecommunications infrastructure operator, faced the challenge of implementing data governance across its complex IT environment of 350 legacy systems without creating paralyzing complexity. Their goal was to gain visibility into data used for reporting, align key business terms, and increase transparency without extensive manual documentation. They partnered with vendor Adastra to use Microsoft Purview as the foundation for a controlled pilot.

Adastra deployed Microsoft Purview, automating scans of key data sources and cataloging approximately 8,000 tables. The solution included creating a business glossary with appointed data stewards to unify definitions and providing visibility into data lineage for key reports. As a result, CETIN established a functional data governance foundation, eliminated recurring misunderstandings in reporting, and empowered its BI team to manage reports as data products.
