Five Star Quality Care - Customer Case Study

Five Star Quality Care, a senior living and healthcare operator with over 250 communities and roughly 4,500 endpoints, was managing updates with SCCM 2012 and 50 distribution points but had to throttle WAN traffic to 32K to avoid disrupting business links. A company-wide migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 revealed that 210 sites had no local servers, making OS deployment and large-image delivery impractical without adding costly servers or bandwidth.

Partnering with iCorps, Five Star added Adaptiva OneSite to their SCCM infrastructure, consolidating to two data-center DPs while using OneSite’s peer-to-peer virtual SAN, PXE/VSM services, and predictive bandwidth harvesting to deliver large OS images and updates over narrow WAN links without throttling. The deployment avoided 210 new servers, repurposed 50 remote servers, enabled successful remote Windows 7 migration and self-service installs, and reduced costs, administrative effort, and deployment failures.
