AECOM, a Fortune 500 global infrastructure firm with roughly 100,000 employees, faced a major IT challenge after doubling in size through acquisition: five different software-deployment systems that made patching and OS imaging slow, manpower-intensive, and hard on the WAN. They liked Microsoft SCCM but deploying the needed global distribution-point servers would have required adding over 1,200 servers, and Windows 10 imaging was taking about four person-hours per machine.
AECOM consolidated on SCCM together with Adaptiva OneSite to centrally manage more than 85,000 endpoints across four primary sites. OneSite eliminated the need for the extra distribution-point servers, automated and accelerated Windows 10 deployments, minimized WAN impact, and sped application and patch delivery—drastically reducing IT effort and improving compliance as the rollout scaled to AECOM’s 1,500 offices.
