Case Study: OrthopaedicsOne restores Confluence stability with Adaptavist

A Adaptavist Case Study

Preview of the OrthopaedicsOne Case Study

How Adaptavist helped OrthopaedicsOne fix its Confluence platform and provided guidance to ensure future site stability

OrthopaedicsOne, a collaborative orthopaedics knowledge network used by more than 6,500 surgeons and students worldwide, was facing serious stability issues with its Confluence-based platform. By 2014, the site was crashing around three times a day, and with limited budget available, the team needed a fast, cost-effective way to diagnose the problem and preserve the advanced functionality of the site. Adaptavist was brought in to help identify what was causing the failures and to advise on how to keep the platform running reliably.

Adaptavist quickly uncovered multiple issues, including uncontrolled AddOn growth, incompatible plugin versions, outdated Confluence and Java versions, caching inefficiencies, and missed server configuration settings after a hosting change. Adaptavist delivered a comprehensive report with immediate fixes, lower-priority performance improvements, and future governance recommendations. As a result, OrthopaedicsOne’s site is now stable and fully functional, enabling key collaborators to continue their work; Dr. Veillette said the fix “decreased my stress levels immensely.”
