DFES launches My Bushfire Plan with Adapptor, reaching 90% of WA residents in bushfire-prone areas

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) faced the challenge of increasing bushfire preparedness among Western Australian residents, as a vast majority living in high-risk areas did not perceive themselves to be in danger. They partnered with Adapptor to transform their static PDF and printed bushfire planning toolkit into an engaging, interactive digital solution to drive significant behavior change.

Adapptor developed a cross-platform solution using React Native for mobile apps and a complementary web service, integrated with a Sanity CMS for centralized content management. The system allows residents to create, save, and access their bushfire plans seamlessly across devices, even offline, with plans syncing automatically upon reconnection. The solution, which also includes regional push notifications and robust analytics, was successfully launched ahead of the bushfire season, providing DFES with a scalable platform to better inform and protect the community.
