Chavez Foundation taps Acumatica’s multiple entity accounting for growth

The Cesar Chavez Foundation is a multi-state nonprofit with roughly 75 entities housed under three main entities, running programs in education, housing, property management and media. Facing the end-of-life of its DOS-based FundWare system, the foundation was struggling with fragmented accounting across Yardi, QuickBooks and Excel, manual payroll for 300 employees, and a need for an affordable ERP that could handle multiple entities, automate payroll, and deliver better financial insights for operational managers.

After evaluating NetSuite, Intacct and Acumatica, the foundation selected Acumatica (Financial Management, Inter‑Company Accounting, NonProfitPlus) for its multi-entity support, subaccounting, permission-based security and unlimited user licensing. With implementation help from a solution partner and a one-time historical data import, Chavez Foundation cut payroll processing from about four days to roughly one day, shortened quarterly close times, rolled out dashboards to empower division managers, and gained an adaptable, cost-effective cloud ERP that will scale with future growth.
