A Acuity Insights Case Study
William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, Mississippi wanted a more holistic admissions process. The school was relying heavily on MCAT scores, but found they correlated poorly with soft skills and OSCE performance, while also seeing low racial diversity in its class. Acuity Insights provided Casper, a situational judgment test used to assess professionalism and social intelligence.
Acuity Insights helped WCUCOM integrate Casper into admissions, first as an optional element and then as a required part of the process after faculty saw the data. The school found that Casper scores correlated strongly with OSCE performance and were better predictors of communication and relationship-building skills than MCAT scores. The change also improved diversity, increasing Black student representation from 5% to 12%.
