TouroCOM-NY finds that Casper scores correlate with humanistic outcomes

Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, which receives about 10,000 applicants a year, wanted a more reliable way to assess applicants’ personal and professional characteristics as part of its commitment to training physicians for underserved communities. The school aimed to strengthen its holistic admissions process and better identify candidates with the humanistic qualities needed for compassionate, ethical care, and it partnered with Acuity Insights to evaluate Casper.

Acuity Insights implemented Casper as part of a multi-year research study to test its predictive value for admissions and in-program performance. The results showed that Casper scores positively correlated with non-cognitive interview performance and were a strong predictor of second-year OSCE performance and community service hours, suggesting measurable value for identifying applicants likely to succeed in humanistic outcomes.
