Toolkit Simplifies LASOC Processes to Offer Free Legal Service to Low-Income Clients

The Legal Aid Society of Orange County (LASOC) provides free civil legal and tax services to low‑income families, individuals, and seniors in Orange and Southeast Los Angeles Counties. Faced with far more people in need than available staff and support, LASOC needed a server‑based, multi‑language application to guide users through legal interviews and forms so clients could get help quickly without overburdening limited personnel.

LASOC implemented ActivePDF’s DocGenius™ Toolkit to deliver a browser‑based, three‑language (English, Spanish, Vietnamese) interview system that generates custom PDF pleadings and instructions. The result: clients can access and complete applications anytime, staff review completed PDFs instead of doing all intake work, system maintenance is simplified, and the program scaled into LegalGenie Inc. and is now used by multiple states, reducing LASOC’s workload while expanding service reach.
