Liberty International Underwriters generates hundreds-of-pages-long insurance policies, 24/7, around the globe with ActiveDocs

Liberty International Underwriters (LIU), the specialty insurance arm of Liberty Mutual, needed to produce extremely complex, highly accurate policy documentation—often hundreds to over 1,000 pages long—across the full policy lifecycle while integrating with core underwriting systems (the legacy UWP and new PQM). LIU’s challenge was to speed up document production, eliminate errors in endorsements and clauses, bring new products to market quickly, and enable underwriters to deliver bespoke policies on short notice. To address this, LIU deployed ActiveDocs organization-wide, using both Automated and User-driven Modes and integrating the solution with its core systems.

ActiveDocs implemented Template Sets, Snippets, Design Item Sets, workflows, and scalable Active-Active/Active-Passive production architectures across 16 systems, automating document generation 24/7 and integrating data from UWP and PQM. The result: automated generation for the 20 most frequently used product lines (with more being added), accurate inclusion of endorsements and clause wording, and rapid template changes without IT—templates range from ~50 to over 600 per product and can produce document packs exceeding 1,000 pages—delivering faster, error‑reduced, high‑availability document production for LIU.
