ActiveDocs generates task instructions that support safe work practices across the 21 production sites of Silver Fern Farms

Silver Fern Farms, a New Zealand red‑meat processor with 21 plants and over 7,000 employees, needed to improve control and maintenance of more than 700 task instructions that had produced thousands of near‑duplicate documents across sites. After evaluating options, Silver Fern Farms selected ActiveDocs (integrated with SharePoint 2013 and Nintex Workflow 2013) to centralize quality document management and ensure consistent, auditable safe‑work instructions.

ActiveDocs was used to import existing Word procedures, convert content into reusable Snippets and Templates, and generate site‑specific task instructions via a web Document Wizard; drafts are delivered into SharePoint, metadata populated, and approvals/publishing automated with Nintex workflows. The ActiveDocs implementation replaced manual upkeep of many thousands of document permutations with single‑source updates—changes made once are automatically published to all affected documents—improving consistency across all 21 sites, reducing maintenance effort and eliminating the risk of out‑of‑date instructions.
