ABB improves compliance of offer documents and processes in 90 countries with ActiveDocs

ABB, a global power and automation technology company, needed a way to produce large, complex, high‑value tender and offer documents accurately and consistently across 90 countries and multiple languages. The existing approach relied on high‑maintenance, hard‑coded templates and slow approval processes that required expensive IT resources and made even small content changes difficult. ABB selected ActiveDocs to provide template management and document automation—including ActiveDocs Template Management, the ActiveDocs Rules Engine and the Document Wizard—integrated with its CCP configurator and existing data sources like Oracle.

ActiveDocs was implemented after a short proof of concept and deployed across 90 countries, integrating seamlessly into the CCP interface to enable both user‑driven and automated document generation. The solution gives business units permissions‑controlled Template Management and Version Control with approval workflows, automatic preloading of case data, multi‑language output, and automated content selection via the ActiveDocs Rules Engine. As a result, ABB business units now create and manage their own templates and content, document creators work from familiar CCP screens with instant links to generated documents, and IT involvement is reduced to adding new data sources—improving compliance, consistency and efficiency globally.
