Berkeley Art Studio is a student‑owned, university‑run studio at UC Berkeley with 40 years of programming in drawing, ceramics, painting, graphic design and photography. When Director of Marketing Katelyn Nomura‑Weingrow took responsibility for long‑range planning and finance, the studio’s aging registration system (Thriva) became a bottleneck—slow speeds, crashes, Chrome incompatibility and hard‑to‑train workflows couldn’t keep up with growing demand and administrative needs.
In 2013 they moved to ACTIVE’s Camp & Class Manager, completing a smooth 2–3 week transition to a faster, easier‑to‑train platform with simple reporting and a responsive account manager. The change drove measurable growth: membership rose 30%, staff grew 50%, registration time fell from 5 to 2 minutes, 95% of participants now register online, and the studio completed a space renovation and full rebrand.
