Sports Xtra, founded in 2002 by Gareth Lippiatt, runs about 100 activities daily across UK schools and community halls to promote children’s active lifestyles. Growth exposed limits in their bespoke booking platform (a £35k investment) — poor mobile experience, unreliable bookings, limited reporting and high maintenance that required two full-time admins and distracted leadership from programme quality and expansion.

In January 2017 Sports Xtra moved to ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager and shifted to a licensed, owner‑operated model. The change delivered a better user experience, stronger security and IT support, and a true business partnership; Sports Xtra launched a pilot in Singapore and recruited 20 UK licensees in year one, cut £65k in annual payroll by eliminating two admin roles, and regained focus to scale further.
