CENTOGENE, a world leader in genetic diagnostics and owner of the CentoMD® rare-disease database, faced a time‑consuming manual process for curating diagnostic data that slowed diagnosis and research. To accelerate and standardize curation, CENTOGENE evaluated rules‑based automation and selected the ACTICO decision management platform (Business Rules Engine), implemented in partnership with systems integrator S&D.

By integrating the ACTICO Business Rules Engine with CentoMD®, CENTOGENE fully automated its curation workflow, reducing processing time from roughly one month to five minutes and enabling batch processing of thousands of samples. The ACTICO solution increased data quality and transparency, freed experts to focus on complex cases, supported retrospective reclassification, and delivered measurable time savings (up to one month per case) that speed diagnoses and patient access to treatment.
