University of Western England (UWE) Manages a Major Migration in the Midst of the Global Pandemic

University of the West of England (UWE) needed to upgrade its mission-critical student records system and migrate it from Solaris UNIX to Linux, while also moving from Actian Ingres 10.2 to 11.1. Because the platform supports more than 30,000 students and hundreds of staff members, UWE turned to Actian Professional Services for help with the complex migration and performance-sensitive system.

Actian worked remotely during COVID-19 to handle installation, configuration, performance testing, monitoring, and disaster recovery validation, using Actian EMA+ and the Actian DBA Toolkit. The project improved system responsiveness, streamlined operations, and eliminated the need to support the aging Solaris environment, freeing up resources for other priorities.
