TNT Express Services UK & Ireland is a leading B2B express delivery operator handling up to 150 million items a year with more than 10,000 employees and a nationwide depot network. Faced with the need for resilient application technology and a qualified IT team to develop, run and maintain business-critical systems, TNT sought a managed‑service partner to take full responsibility for its application portfolio.

TNT engaged Actian Services to design, develop and remotely support Ingres- and OpenROAD-based applications since 1996, delivering an item-tracking system (expanded to cover all shipments), a Mail Services tracking solution for major banks, a public website tracking interface, payment processing, timeslot booking and ongoing enhancements. Actian provides 24/7 support and three dedicated DBAs as part of the managed service, reducing operating costs, improving system resilience and giving TNT a reliable, responsive partner for continued development.
