Medical Data Vision (MDV) is a Japan-based developer of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) software that collects and shares hospital data to support epidemiological studies, market research and drug development. MDV needed much faster, web-accessible analysis of very large datasets—typically 800 million to 1 billion rows—because their previous columnar database produced slow reports (up to 30 seconds), harming user experience and adoption.

MDV migrated its analyzer to Actian Vectorwise, implemented by Insight Technology on commodity hardware, delivering a high-performance analytical engine that is easy to deploy. The switch enabled ad-hoc queries over massive datasets in seconds (reports that took 30 seconds now run in about 2 seconds), increased end-user satisfaction, supported more concurrent users, and helped MDV attract new customers.
