Leading Auto Glass Company LYNX Services Finds Ingres Open Source Database Unbreakable

Lynx Services, a division of PPG Industries and the market leader in auto-glass claims management, processes more than 3 million claims annually and coordinates scheduling, billing and payments for thousands of retailers. To run its 24x7, transaction-heavy applications used by call centers, agents and policyholders, Lynx required a highly available, reliable and scalable database platform.

Lynx migrated to the open-source Ingres Database (using Ingres ABF for development), gaining high availability, fast transactional performance and a support-based licensing model without any drop in performance. Ingres now powers EDI, web claims processing, invoicing and fund transfers for some 6,000 retailers and hundreds of CSRs—delivering the stability, scalability and efficiency Lynx needed.
