A Actian Case Study
GlobalCollect, a Netherlands‑based electronic payments provider serving merchants in more than 200 countries and supporting 170 currencies, needed a fault‑tolerant, high‑performance back‑end to process millions of customer‑not‑present transactions 24x7. Critical requirements included real‑time synchronization of exchange rates, extensive redundancy, and fast data replication across 14 databases to support growing transaction volumes and dozens of replication channels.
GlobalCollect deployed Actian Ingres Database with HVR replication to move data across 25–30 channels and keep systems synchronized, using HVR for fast distribution of exchange rates and as a migration buffer during upgrades. The solution delivered the required scalability and reliability, enabled a smooth rollout of a new payout system, supported ongoing growth and merchant reporting initiatives, and helped the company transition more of its stack to open‑source Linux with strong vendor support.
