A Actian Case Study
Actian worked with a Global Bank Risk Group to replatform ~30 risk applications off Oracle onto the Actian Platform to meet aggressive performance and scalability targets. The bank needed to load very large volumes (2 billion risk data points in 6 hours ≈100k/sec), support filtered aggregation in ~30 seconds, full-day aggregation of a 1 million–point hierarchy in <15 seconds, store 80 days (~160 billion rows), scale horizontally to up to 10 billion rows/day, and provide drill up/drill down under 2 seconds.
The Actian Platform delivered those capabilities and exceeded goals: ingestion completed in 1 hour 40 minutes (~333k/sec), filtered aggregation ran in 6 seconds on a 5‑node cluster and 2 seconds on 10 nodes, full‑day aggregation returned sub‑second results, and the system stores 100 days (~200 billion rows) with linear scaling. Horizontal scalability scaled predictably as nodes were added and drill up/drill down consistently achieved <1 second.
