Case Study: British Friendly achieves reduced risk and guaranteed system availability with Actian Services (Ingres v9.2.3 & EMA)

A Actian Case Study

Preview of the British Friendly Case Study

British Friendly reduces risk and guarantees system availability with Actian Services and Enterprise Management Appliance (EMA)

British Friendly is a UK income-protection mutual founded in 1902 that manages policies and member payment data for about 15,000 members using an M2000 insurance application built on an older Ingres database. With critical policies running for decades, the society needed to move off Ingres v2.6 to v9.2.3 and replace aging hardware, but had only one internal administrator and could not risk downtime or weakened controls during the transition.

Actian Services handled the Ingres v9.2.3 upgrade, installed new hardware and implemented a three-year Enterprise Management Service using Actian’s Enterprise Management Appliance (EMA) to monitor and manage the M2000 application. The engagement delivered a seamless upgrade, continuous proactive monitoring, reduced operational risk, improved system availability and greater longevity for British Friendly’s core systems.
