Bringing the IoT to ERP One Stop Shopping for Global Shop Solutions

Global Shop Solutions, a long-time ERP provider for manufacturing customers, needed a serverless database to embed in low-cost IoT devices so they could capture and share shop-floor data without adding middleware or ETL overhead. The challenge was to move data securely and efficiently between IoT sensors/controllers and its ERP system while avoiding bottlenecks and keeping management simple for customers with limited IT staff. Actian Zen Mobile was identified as the fit for this need.

Actian implemented Actian Zen Mobile alongside the existing Actian Zen platform, giving Global Shop Solutions a consistent database architecture across devices, edge, cloud, and ERP systems. The solution eliminated the need for ETL and middleware, reduced processing overhead, and enabled secure, high-performance data movement with no on-site DBA required. As a result, Global Shop Solutions gained a lightweight, scalable path for IoT integration and new analytics opportunities, including using OpenML and Tensor to generate deeper insights and forecasts.
