Polyester Film Manufacturing Company, one of the world’s largest makers of polyester films, needed to replace a custom legacy materials-management system that could not integrate with SAP. The division had to support complex, tightly controlled production across multiple plants and run 24/7 while collecting data from receiving through manufacturing to finished goods, even if SAP or the WAN went offline. Acsis implemented its Edge platform (formerly VisiTrak) to automate real-time data collection across shop-floor devices, barcode labeling, receiving, staging, and production processes, with store-and-forward capability when SAP was unavailable.
