Merisant’s Automation of Production Data Equals Success

Merisant, a producer of billions of packets of Equal and other sweetener brands each year, needed a better way to capture real-time production data across its manufacturing operations. Its existing bar-code system was unreliable and couldn’t feed accurate floor-level information into SAP, creating manual work and risking supply chain inefficiencies. Acsis provided the data-collection and wireless-integration software, Acsis ProducTrak MES, to help solve the problem.

With Acsis ProducTrak MES and barcoding hardware, Merisant now sends data directly from handhelds, scanners, and process equipment into SAP, even during maintenance windows or network outages. The solution improved data integrity, automated raw-material and production tracking, and enabled real-time production and distribution of more than 50 million Equal packets per day, while reducing manual verification and paperwork.
